FAQ

Kanderlodge renovations
CHF 250’000,–

Kanderlodge is the newest addition to the Centre with ensuite rooms and a big common area. However, it is almost 15 years since it was built, and it needs refurbishing.

Solar panels
CHF 100’000,–

An idea to make KISC more sustainable with energy is to cover the Kanderlodge with solar panels. Let us make KISC greener and send a signal to all visitors.

Staff accommodation
CHF 100’000,–

Staff accommodation is an important topic at the Centre. Not only to give our Long Term Staff their own space but also because it is a big cost for a non-profit organisation. Every year we spend up to CHF 6’000.- per Long Term Staff on accommodation away from the Centre. More suitable space within the Centre equals an improved quality, and money saved! Support us in creating fitting rooms for our staff.

Wardrobe and entrance area in Kanderlodge
CHF 10’000,–

The entrance to the Kanderlodge Main Hall tends to get crowded. Help organise things better by creating a new entrance design.

Kanderlodge Main Hall
CHF 20’000,–

The big Kanderlodge Main Hall is the largest indoor room we have at KISC, but the acoustics are a real problem, especially with hundreds of people talking. Support the installation of acoustic measures.

Kanderlodge parking lot
CHF 20’000,–

Parking is a problem at KISC. Especially during high season. Also, it is usually too dusty or wet to walk and drive. Help us give the parking in front of the Kanderlodge a new surface.

What is KISC?

Kandersteg International Scout Centre’s story began at the World Scout Jamboree in London in 1920. Here, Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of Scouting, spoke of his dream of a place where Scouts from all over the world could meet, learn from each other and live in peace all year round.

Every year, KISC is host to 12’000 guests from all around the globe, totalling to around 70’000 overnights, meaning the Centre is one of the largest tourist facilities in the Bernese Oberland.
