Baden Powell’s dream and his leadership legacy come together in Kandersteg… Join us for this special KISC Centenary WoodBadge Training in May 2023.
This year we celebrate the 100th anniversary of Kandersteg International Scout Centre –KISC. As part of the celebrations, a special Wood Badge Training (2 Beads) will take place in an international environment in the Swiss Alps. We are delighted to invite Adult Scout Leaders from your NSO/NSA to the Wood Badge Training.
This first of its kind event, done together in collaboration with the World Organization of the Scout Movement, will take place from the 22nd to the 26th of May 2023.
The key purpose of the Wood Badge Training is to provide Adults with the means to make a significant contribution to accomplishing the Mission of Scouting. The Wood Badge is an indicator of high-level training competences, quality training systems, and individual opportunities for development within Scouting. During this training the participants will acquire and/ or further develop competences to better perform in different roles/ positions in Scouting, and in other aspects of their lives.
During this 5-day event, the Wood Badge training will support the development of competencies in the following topics: Scouting (fundamentals) essentials, Leadership and Team Management, Project Management, Communicating meaningfully, and Adult Development. All the content we will provide will be tailored especially for participants, taking into consideration their diverse backgrounds, abilities, relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and educational backgrounds. It will be a challenging, stimulating, and inclusive learning opportunity for our Adult Scout Leaders.
The training will be delivered in English.
Registration can be submitted by International Commissioners only, by sending the names, email addresses and ages of the leader(s) you would like to nominate for this training. The deadline for nominating participants is the 20th of April 2023.
Further steps by participating NSO/NSA
After the completion of the training, leaders will be required to continue any additional necessary steps required by their NSO/NSA to get their wood badge accreditation.
Selection criteria
During the application process we will keep the balance of the group in consideration.
This process will be done by a Selection Committee, focusing on age and gender balance, geographical and cultural representation. Participants of the six World Scouting Regions will be prioritized.
The event is shaped to have a significant mix of newcomers interested in the topic areas, and more experienced participants for a good level of best practice sharing and peer to peer learning.
We invite you to share this information with any Adult Leader who may have an interest and please ensure NSO endorsements are included in applications.
The participation fee for the event is 300 CHF, which covers the training cost, accommodation and all meals at the World Scout Centre. During the registration process, you will be required to become a member of the KISC Association. You will register as a young member (25 CHF), adult (50 CHF), or National Scout Organization representative (200 CHF).
Throughout the year, we will gather in Kandersteg to celebrate 100 years of inspiring young people to create a better world.
Our vision is that the centenary will be the beginning of the next 100 years with Baden-Powell’s dream of a Permanent Mini Jamboree.
Kandersteg International Scout Centre has been run by volunteers since 1923. Join the team that creates lifelong memories.
